The Hustle, chapter 10

Zeinab winced as she walked out of the hospital. She had no one to come for her. She was alone.  She sobbed internally.

What a cruel world. Sometimes she just wants to drink poison and die but Islam didn’t accept such vile behavior.

And she felt one day all will end well.

She thought back to her life before coming to Accra.

She lived in Yendi with her parents. They were not rich neither were they poor. They were just okay.

She was okay with what her parents could provide for her, and her big brother, Hassan and her little sister, Anima didn’t have any problem with that too.

Until…

Until… That faithful night…

When the wicked armed robbers came to destroy her fairytale.

She was able to escape with Hassan but unfortunately, she couldn’t help Amina and this haunts her to this very day.

She wished she could go back in time to rescue her little sister. She didn’t even know if she was still alive or dead.

She lost contact with Hassan too, although they escaped together. Hassan left her alone at Bechem that he’s going to look for assistance for them for he never came back.

She still wondered what was going through Hassan’s mind at that time, How could he leave a 14-year-old alone?

Like how?

She still doesn’t get it.

Unfortunately, she had to go and identify his dead body at the Bechem Government Hospital’s Morgue two years ago.

He died from drug overdose.

She felt anguish in her soul from all these memories.

Why did Allah have to treat her like this?

What at all did she do wrong?

Whose curse is she bearing?

She thought back to the child in her womb.

She can’t give birth to this child.

She just can’t.

This world is too cruel for the baby.

She’s going to have an abortion.

That’s her final decision.

The Hustle chapter 9

Afoley heard a loud voice. ‘Eei, is that his wife?

‘Eei Ganja, you didn’t tell me you’re married?’, she exclaimed.

‘Jee j3m3 ( leave there), can’t you tell when one is married?, Ganja annoyingly said.

‘ Kwer Nii Ganja, mi ni olaka mi erh ( is it me you’re lying to), Afia Dompe barged into the room whilst saying.

He looked up to the skies, ‘ Yehowa( God), help me, he murmured.

Afia Dompe looked at Afoley with Disgust, ‘Who is this villager you brought to our home?

Ganja said calmly, ‘ First of all Awula( Lady), this is not your home and secondly you have no right to tell me who to bring to my HOME.

Afoley snickered. ‘Eei this girl is getting it from Ganja oo, she thought.

‘Eei Ganja, is this what you’re telling me. After all, we’ve been through, Afia said sorrowfully.

“Herh herh Awula ( Lady), please don’t come and stress me. What have you done for me? Please i’m so not in the mood for your nonsense, he said with bottled anger.

Afoley just looked on with Humor. This is interesting, she thought to herself.

Afia Dompe saw that she was losing this argument. ‘I’ll be back, she said.

‘And I hope not to see this hood rat the next time I come around.’

This statement angered Afoley.

‘Please oo, who are you calling hood rat. Check your vocabulary. Tsw’

hmmph, ashawo, Afia Dompe said before leaving.

‘Bo hu ( you too), you have no taste kwraa. Why? Don’t you look at the girl before sleeping with her? TSw, all your guy guy…..

Ganja interrupted her, ‘ If you want a place to sleep, i’ll suggest you shut up right now….

No one had to tell Afoley, she kept quiet for the rest of the night.

PS: This is solely fiction.

‘Hmm, I hope I’m doing the right thing and that she’s not a thief, Ganja thought.

As they got closer to the gated residence of kiosk😂, Ganja got more nervous. One reason was that he was still unsure about bringing a total stranger into his personal space and the other that Afia Dompe could see them and spark a fight. Although he wasn’t exclusive with her, she thought of him as her boyfriend. No lie, the sex was great but that girl was too aggressive and rude to be considered as his girlfriend. Besides, he wasn’t the only person sleeping with her.

Lost in his words, it was Afoley’s voice that brought him back to reality. Afoley said in a teasing voice, ‘Scared that mama would be angry at you for bringing a girl home?

Immediately she said that, she looked at him with terror drawn on her face, ‘Wait a minute, do do you live with your parents?

He laughed out loud again. This girl is dramatic.

He asked, ‘ Do I look like someone who lives with his parents?

She looked at him with a smirk on her face and said teasingly, ‘How am I supposed to know? Besides, it could be true. I mean, you still wear pampers and I saw a milk stain on your shirt.

She laughed after saying that.

He chuckled and said ,’That was not milk stain sweetheart. It was cum.

He also laughed after saying that.

She looked at her with annoyance drawn on her face, ‘ You are really nasty.

‘One of my numerous qualities, he retorted with a smirk.

‘Besides I thought you’re Mary Magdalene so how do you know about cum?, he said in between laughter.

‘Dickhead, she said and started walking ahead of him.

‘Hey wait for me. And you’ve not seen my dick yet so stop talking about it, he teased her again.

Annoying chipmunk, she retorted.

Finally they got to his place. ‘So this is my humble abode,he said with a salute. Afoley laughed.

They then entered his room. Although he lived in a kiosk, he had high and expensive taste. With sofa, a California king bed and other things , you would think he’s really rich ( he is rich though)

Afoley said with smiles, ‘ Are you sure you’re not a business tycoon’s son?

Immediately she said that, he stiffened. Is she a spy from my Dad?

Afoley noticed that he had become quiet. ‘Erm please did I say anything wrong?

‘Nothing, he said in a cold voice.

Just then, they heard someone knocking at the door. It seemed like it was urgent. They rushed to the door and opened it.

It was Afia Dompe……

The Hustle, chapter 7

Zeinab could hear the beeping of machines. Her head was aching. She felt as if a tipper truck was on her body. Her shoulder throbbed. Her ribs hurt. Her throat was dry.

‘Water, water please,she croaked.

A nurse brought her a cup of water. She gulped it all. A doctor immediately entered the room.

‘Miss Zeinab Alhassan,.he called out.

‘Yes, Doctor.

‘Thank God you were brought in early. The bullet didn’t graze your vital organs. With a good rest of about 6 weeks, you would be better. And Thank God for the bullets not grazing your organs, it would have hurt the baby.

She abruptly got up, wincing as she felt pains all over her body, she stammered A a a b-ba-baby?

‘Yes. You’re 4 weeks pregnant’

She started wailing. The doctor looked alarmed.

‘I I can-can’t be pregnant doctor. I just can’t.

‘Hmm, the Doctor sighed.

‘I want an abortion, she immediately said.

She can’t be pregnant. She can’t bring an innocent soul into this cruel world. She just can’t. Besides she doesn’t know the father. And even if she did, no man will accept to be the father to a prostitute’s child.

‘Hmm. You’ll have to wait for 6 weeks before making that decision. You can die if you want it now.

She sobbed.

‘Well,.I’ll see you later. Have some rest. He left.

Once again she was alone. Alone in this cold dark world………..

The Hustle, chapter 6

Ganja thought to himself, For a beautiful girl she was really stupid. They’d searched around for more than 3 hours. He was tired, hungry and thirsty.

‘Eei Yehowa, I’m tired oo, Afoley said and sat on a stone. Hmm, its dark now.

He looked at her. She’s really beautiful. ‘Snap out of it, his subconscious told him.’

He looked at his Casio watch and said, Its 7 pm.

She started crying, ‘ Oh God, where am I going to sleep now?’

He couldn’t leave her there. But he didn’t really know her to bring her into his home. Hmm. He contemplated on sending her to an hotel. But….what will she do or go after that night’

He looked up to the sky and let out a sharp breath. ‘ Oh God, I hope I’m doing the right thing’

He was not a devote Christian anymore but he did pray once in a while.

He looked at her again and said, Follow me. Let’s go home.

She looked up at her and said, I don’t know you oo.

So you’re going to sleep here right, he retorted.

Erm, Erm,

‘ For once just shut up and follow me. Its not I’m going to rape you or something’

Hmmm…

‘Oh okay, she finally agreed.

‘Oh and learn how to say thank you. It will help you greatly,he told her.

She glared at him.

He laughed.

This girl is refreshing.

‘Oh by the way too, I live in a kiosk. Hope you were not expecting a mansion’

Tsw. I never said I wanted a mansion, did I?

Obuu mo na ( You don’t respect erh), he said.

She smiled at him and started walking.

‘What kind of wahala have I placed myself in?, he thought………..

The Hustle, chapter 5

Afoley walked beside the fine man. ‘What’s your name?, she asked.” I’m Ganja.” Eei, your parents named you Ganja?, she asked.

He chuckled. ‘Nope, that’s my street name.’

She immediately stopped and looked at him fearfully, with a trembling voice she asked ‘ Ar-are y-you a thief?’

He laughed again. Please no, I’m too handsome to be one.

Conceited ass, she thought.

‘Its just a nicky. I don’t really know you so I’m not going to tell you my real name. You can call me Ganja though.’

She mimicked him, ‘ I don’t really know you so I’m not going to tell you my real name.’ Tsw, I don’t know you but I did tell you my name.

He shrugged, Elephant you, elephant me.

‘What are you? A pre-schooler. ‘ Elephant you, elephant me.’

He stopped and turned to look at her. ‘ For a lost and broke girl, you really have an annoying personality.

She shrugged and smirked, ‘One of my few qualities, sweetheart.’

He laughed out loud again. ‘ Damn, you are really funny.’

She laughed with him this time around. I’ve been told.

‘So back to serious business, can you at least describe the house or give me any clue.’

‘Hmm, all I know is that it is a 2 storey building with a big mango tree in front of it.’

He stopped again and looked at her as if she was a mad girl. ‘ Eei Awula (Lady), you basically know nothing about your family house and you decided to come and look for it. There are several houses with that description. So how then are we suppose to find it.’

She started whimpering.

‘Hey hey stop crying already. Let’s just look around.

She said in a small voice, Oh okay………

The Hustle, chapter 4

Ganja approached the lady. Charr she get body oo, he thought to himself. ‘Ehem’, he cleared his throat. She turned to look at him. Ganja had a vivid look at her, standing at 5’7 ft, she had a soft dark body. She definitely had curves and bends that would keep a man in bed forever. Her natural hair was in a high bun and her plum lips were coated in lip gloss. From her dressing, he could see she was either not fashionable or a villager.

Erm I saw you crying and as a gentleman I couldn’t watch you do so’, Ganja said.

‘ I’m from Kumasi but I’m here to find my extended family. I was told they live in Teshie Tsuibleoo but I have been picked. My money and phone have been stolen. I don’t know which part of Tsuibleoo the house is’ , she rambled.

What’s your name?, he asked.

‘I’m Afoley Bortey, she replied.

‘Erm so what are you going to do?’

‘ I don’t know, she said and started crying hysterically.

For a nice girl, her cry is really ugly, he thought.

‘ Hey, hey, its okay. Stop crying I’ll help you’

‘But I won’t sleep with you oo, she immediately said.’

Ganja laughed out loud.

‘Please if I wanted to sleep with you, I would have done so a long time ago, he lied cos he definitely wanted to explore the treasure cave between her thighs.

‘Oh okay but what do you want in exchange, she inquired.’

‘Nothing. Can’t one help someone without wanting anything. Besides you look like you can’t afford it, he said while shrugging.

She glared at him.

He laughed out loud again.

Come on let’s go.

He told her……….

Zeinab bent down as she took in the strokes. The old man behind her started to bore her. He was panting, groaning and grunting as if he was running a marathon race. His little member was just entering and withdrawing. She felt no satisfaction. She started to get bored. A moan from Leila, her friend brought her back to reality. Leila seemed like she was really enjoying the sex. It seems Zeinab picked the wrong customer today.

This was her livelihood. In fact, this was the livelihood of most girls in Mallam Atta Market. It was a part time job for some kayayo girls and full time job for the lazy girls. Their motto was ‘ Work and Happiness’ ( Ejuma in enigyie ) 😂😂😂❤. Zeinab didn’t want to do that but life was too difficult and with no qualification, it was either this or armed robbery and she was scared of guns so that was a no no.

The man behind Leila groaned very loudly indicating that he was spent. He paid Leila and left but the old man behind her was still going at it. Weak ass, she thought.

Immediately guns started firing, the man behind her dropped dead. Zeinab picked up her panties and run for her life. She turned back to call Leila but saw her lying lifeless on the ground. She couldn’t even stop and cry for her friend. She had to run, run for her life. The guns were still firing. The metallic smell of blood made her nauseous but she still had to run.

With tears flowing and a sweaty body, she was running to no where. She was about to branch into an alley when a bullet pierced through her shoulder blade and another one through her ribs.

She fell to the ground wishing her life was different. She called for her mom but no response. She heard the siren of an ambulance but blacked out. She didn’t know if she was going to die or survive…….

Nii Odoi Lamptey, popularly known as Ganja. The boy with a bright future, the Shikats3 bi ( Rich man’s Child ) was the appellation he responded to. He hated school with his whole being. The first time he entered a classroom he bit the arm of his teacher. In Kindergarten 2, he smoked his first marijuana thus earning the nickname Ganja. He wanted to be a mechanic but he didn’t want to go to school. His parents pleaded with him to at least get a degree and then he can do whatever he wanted. But he didn’t want to learn. He thought the educational system in Ghana was too formal. Read, read, read, read, read, no practice or little practice. He liked to dirty his hands.

At age 17, he decided to leave his house. The 3 storey building was a cold house. No love. His parents cheated on each other. Sometimes right in his face. He was neglected. Every 3months with a new nanny. Because his Dad slept with all of them. There were changes every 3 months because of the bad behaviour his parents put up. He couldn’t pretend anymore.

With a few savings and his trust fund, he decided to move out. At first, he wanted to get a plush apartment but he realized his Dad would find him if he did. He then thought of a single room but he know he would be found again.

Chasey, his rascal of a friend lived in Atta Odoi, a suburb of Tsuibleoo in a hood which housed only wooden houses or better still kiosk. He decided to purchase one and live there. He then decided to train up to become a mechanic. Only Chasey knew of the great fortune he left behind. He made Chasey promise not to tell anyone.

At age 20, the bad habits of his parents got to him. With his fine features, 6’2 ft tall, a dark chocolate skin, slim but muscular form, curly afro with sides faded, plum pink lips, trim eyebrows and a sexy, charming smile, he knew He was the It boy. He become a manwhore. He had slept with almost half of the ladies in Tsuibleoo. With this behaviour, he decided to have a vasectomy since he didn’t want to impregnate any lady. He had himself checked every 2 weeks. He made sure he was clean.

Love was nothing but a big fat lie to him. He saw the love his parents supposedly had for one another. This hardened him to the core. Hmmph

After an afternoon session with Afia Dompe, he was going back to his room when he saw a beautiful girl crying by the roadside. He wanted to pass by but he couldn’t. He was kind at heart though. He then decided to approach the lady……..

The Hustle , chapter 1

Afoley thought the great city of Accra was all roses. Originally from Teshie Tsuibleoo but lived in Amakom, a suburb of Kumasi with her parents. She decided to go find her roots. Besides life was difficult in Amakom. Her Dad, Nii Tsatse had lost his right hand and leg to an accident thus rendering him helpless. No job, her mother couldn’t stand the state of her father thus she ran away with her lover.

All she knew was they had a family house in Tsuibleoo. Picking her small jute bag with a few clothes and things she needed, she took a ford bus and made it to Accra. As she got closer to Tsuibleoo using the Spintex road, she was amazed by the mini skyscrapers and other nice buildings. She gaped at the buildings looking like a fool😂😂. She thought to herself, mba sh3 ( I’ve arrived ).

She alighted at Manet Junction and took a bus to Tsuibleoo. When she got to the place, she then remembered that she didn’t really know which part of Tsuibleoo was the family house located. She decided to call her Dad. She checked her handbag but couldn’t feel her phone. She emptied the bag and realized that her cash( GH¢ 200), her phone and her necklace had been stolen. She thought back to when she alighted at Circle. People were just pushing one another to get to their various locations. That must have been the place where her things had been stolen. She cried like her Dad was dead. No money, no phone, how was she to find the family house or live in Accra.

Ganja, whose real name is Nii Odoi was going back to his kiosk after **having s*x**with the hood’s hoe, Afia Dompe when he saw a beautiful girl crying by the roadside. The good boy in him decided to find out the reason……..
